Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Admission Requirements:
The School of Music and Dance graduate program requires all applicants to have an undergraduate degree in music from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association, and to be in good academic standing at the last college or university attended. In rare circumstances, however, well-qualified students with degrees in areas other than music may be admitted to the program. The School of Music and Dance requires a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the last 60 units of undergraduate coursework. In addition, the School requires:- Demonstration of graduate-level skill for performance areas through a live and/or recorded audition, (please see School of Music and Dance website for the specific requirements of individual performance areas);
- Submission of a portfolio of compositions, representative research papers, or teaching materials demonstrating graduate level competence. (please see School of Music and Dance website for the specific requirements of individual academic areas);
- Interview: The University requires that all graduate students demonstrate competency in written English as a condition for admission. The School of Music and Dance requires as TOEFL scores of 590 (Paper Based), 243 (Computer Based) and 5 (Writing Section), 96 (Internet Based).
