Program Curriculum

Course Structure

  1. The Clinical Nursing MSc programme is a study pathway that allows you to apply the learning and skills you acquire in the taught components of your PGDip programme to conduct a research project and write a dissertation of around 15,000 \x96 18,000 words. There are three project options are available for study: an analysis of an area of healthcare provision, an empirical study, or a systematic review.
  2. The pathway is made up of one 60-credit module, which you will complete in one year. A designated supervisor will support your project work throughout the course.
  3. Contact time is based on 24 academic weeks, whereas self-study time is based on 31 academic weeks. Typically, one credit equates to ten hours of work.
  4. The majority of learning for this degree takes place across the five King\x92s College London campuses, including four Thames-side campuses (Waterloo, Strand, St Thomas\x92 and Guy\x92s) and the Denmark Hill Campus in south London.

Academic Requirements

Applicants must have been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Nursing with Registration (all fields) with an overall average mark of 55% or above (or overseas equivalent). Applicants are also required to have studied research methods at a postgraduate level.

If you do not meet the normal entry requirements or you have only the minimum academic standard you should pay particular attention in preparing your supporting statement and CV to ensure that you draw attention to evidence of potential success for dissertation work. This might include publications, preparation of reports or active participation in service development initiatives or funded research.
