Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3.3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

To apply, you MUST meet the following pre-requisites 1) Be currently enrolled as a Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) undergraduate Psychology major, 2) Be entering your second semester of junior year with a minimum of 30 credits completed at RU-N, 3) Have a minimum 3.6 Psychology GPA and minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA at RU-N, and 4) Have earned a minimum grade of A in both 830:301 (Statistical Methods) and 830:302 (Experimental Methods), or the equivalent transfer courses.
3 letters of recommendation (one from a Psychology faculty research mentor), official transcripts from all previous institutions (including RU-N junior year fall grades), and a personal statement are required.

TEST REQUIREMENTS

GRE scores are NOT required for the BA/MA Psychology program

PERSONAL STATEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Your personal statement should describe past research and academic experience, interests for future research training in the BA/MA program including why you have chosen to work with your primary faculty mentor, and future plans following the BA/MA program.

English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
