CULTURAL DIVERSITY

Universidad De La Salle Bajío, located in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, actively promotes cultural diversity through various initiatives and events that enrich the academic and social experiences of its community.

1. Feria de la Interculturalidad (Intercultural Fair):

This biannual event celebrates global cultures, featuring activities that highlight the richness of the university's diverse community. For instance, the 2023 edition focused on Japanese culture, with over 1,300 attendees, including the Consul of Japan in León, Mr. Katsumi Itagaki. The fair included workshops, culinary demonstrations, and testimonies, such as that of Mr. Yasuaki Yamashita, a survivor of the Nagasaki atomic bomb.

2. International Student Exchanges:

The university fosters cultural exchange through partnerships with institutions worldwide. In August 2023, it welcomed 38 exchange students from various regions of Mexico and France, integrating them into the university's academic and cultural life.

3. Cultural Activities and Festivals:

To strengthen Mexican roots and Lasallian identity, the university organizes cultural activities such as traditional dance performances and serenades. In September 2022, the "Corazón Mexicano" celebration featured the university's folkloric dance group, Felinos De La Salle, performing regional dances, and a Mexican serenade with mariachi music.

4. Multicultural Seminars:

Collaborations with international universities provide platforms for cultural exchange. In June 2021, students from Universidad De La Salle Bajío and Universidade Feevale in Brazil participated in the "Seminario Multicultural México 2021," sharing traditions and exploring cultural similarities and differences.

Through these initiatives, Universidad De La Salle Bajío demonstrates its commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that values and celebrates cultural diversity, enriching the educational experience for all members of its community.
