Mälardalen University (MDU) is a public higher education institution in Sweden’s Mälaren Valley region, with campuses in Västerås and Eskilstuna near Lake Mälaren. Founded in 1977, it has grown into one of Sweden’s modern universities, known for its practice-oriented education, applied research, and strong connections with industry and the public sector.
MDU serves around 19,000 students across a broad range of subject areas, including business and economics, engineering and technology, health and welfare, education, design and communication, and music and opera.
