Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GMAT score:
The GMAT is specifically designed for admission to business or management schools, and is meant to test how prepared you are for a business degree programme
Step 1: Apply to NMSU\xc2\x92s Graduate School
Graduate School admission requirements must be met before applicants may be admitted to the Master of Accountancy program.
The Graduate School uses online application forms for both domestic and international students.
Step 2: Apply to the Master of Accountancy Program
An acceptable score on the GMAT must be submitted at least one month prior to the student\xc2\x92s first enrollment.
GMAT Requirement:
- Consideration for admission to the MACC program is dependent on an applicant\xc2\x92s undergraduate record and score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). An applicant\xc2\x92s undergraduate GPA is multiplied by a factor of 200 and the result is added to his/her GMAT score. The required score is 1100. Applicants scoring between 1000 and 1100 will be admitted to the program only with committee approval. In addition to the aforementioned entrance requirements, an applicant\xc2\x92s GPA in 7 upper division accounting prerequisites must be at least 3.0, and the minimum acceptable GMAT score is 400.
The GMAT requirement is waived for applicants who:
- Are graduates of an undergraduate accounting program from a U.S. AACSB-accredited business school with at least a 3.25 GPA overall and a 3.25 GPA in their eight upper-division accounting courses; OR
- Hold a recognized professional accounting credential (such as CPA, CMA, CIA, CFE); OR
- Hold a post-baccalaureate degree (such as an MBA, MS, MA, JD) from an approved, AACSB-accredited U.S. university with a minimum of 3.0 GPA in graduate course work.
All grades, including those from the first attempt at repeated classes, will be used to compute upper division accounting prerequisite GPAs to determine admission to the graduate program. At the suggestion of any faculty member, the MACC Admissions Committee will review the application of a student whose potential might not be accurately reflected by this calculation. It is assumed that accounting prerequisites will be from AACSB-accredited schools.
