The applicant is required to have a thorough knowledge of know these pieces, from memory. The candidate has to rehearse, conduct and correct a choir (sheet music can be used for this) performing one piece from each of the above categories, chosen by the examination committee.
2. Singing
1 baroque or classical composed song or aria chosen by the candidate.
1 romantic or 20th century composed song or aria chosen by the candidate.
1 composed song, or a folk song or an aria with piano accompaniment, chosen by the candidate.

The pieces are to be performed from memory, and in their original language. However, at least one piece in\xc2\xa0 Hungarian is to be included in the program. A piano accompanist is provided by the Liszt Academy.

3. Piano
\xc2\xa0- J.S.Bach: 1 Prelude and Fugue from Wohltemperiertes Klavier or 2 movements of a cyclic piece (fast and slow)
\xc2\xa0- 1 movement of a classical sonata (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven)
\xc2\xa0- 2 performance pieces \xc2\x96 one should be by a Hungarian composer (Bart\xc3\xb3k or one of his contemporaries)\xc2\xa0

4. Theory\xc2\xa0 (written exam only)
- Bass harmonization: harmonization of a bass line consisting of cca 10 tones and notation of the chords by figures
- Analysis: formal analysis of an opening movement of a sonata from the stylistic circle of Haydn and Mozart piano\xc2\xa0 sonatas
- General musical studies:
a) Identifying 10 musical pieces: providing the name of the composer and the title, or at least identification of the era or style and genre.
b) Explanation and interpretation of 10 musical terms, concepts, titles of pieces, etc.
