Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.25 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
You need the following GMAT score:
The GMAT is specifically designed for admission to business or management schools, and is meant to test how prepared you are for a business degree programme
- A bachelor\xc2\x92s degree in accounting from a recognized educational institution or a bachelor\xc2\x92s degree that includes the prerequisites of intermediate financial accounting, survey of calculus and probability and statistics.
- A cumulative grade-point average of at least a 3.0 from any institution attended.
- A grade-point average of at least 3.0 for any junior- and senior-level accounting courses taken as an undergraduate.
- A working knowledge of personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, networking, and database management systems.
- Two letters of recommendation with at least one written by a faculty member in your major.
- GMAT or GRE exam. A minimum GMAT score of 550 or strong GRE scores.
- Current MSU accounting students with an overall GPA of 3.25 AND an average of 3.25 in their 300/400 level accounting courses (not including ACC 308) are eligible to waive the GMAT/GRE.
- Video Essay
- International Students Only: A minimum IELTS band score of 7 OR a minimum TOEFL score
Admission to the program is competitive. Meeting the minimum standards listed above does not guarantee admission. Although all of the above minimum standards must normally be met, the applicant\xc2\x92s overall record is considered, including letters of recommendation, student\xc2\x92s statement of objectives, work experience, extra-curricular activities, and TOEFL/IELTS scores.
