Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Admission Requirements:
A student applying to a master\'s program must:
- have earned a four-year bachelor\'s degree or its equivalent from a college or university that is accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting association, or do so within one academic year
- present official transcripts from each college or university other than Illinois State at which graduate, undergraduate, or non-degree credit was earned.
A student applying for this program must:
- have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for either the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework or any previous work in a master\'s program
- submit a letter of application stating your interest and what you plan to emphasize in your work
- submit a writing sample: it may be poems, a short story, script or an essay. If you wish, you may write on what you think the role of an arts technologist in the 21st century will be (this is only a suggestion for those who don\'t have writing samples at the ready).

- submit a portfolio consisting of 6-10 pieces of work to: Program in Arts Technology Graduate Admission Campus Box 5600 Illinois State University Normal, IL 61790-5600. Work may be submitted on a disk or within a website and may include any combination of the following: 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, video, and animated art and design; sound files of music performances and sound design projects; video, stills and sketches of set and costume design; multi-media and web site design. The work must be viewable on Mac or PC.
