Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
- Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 (a GPA below a 3.0 may be considered)
- Standardized graduate admission test (GRE or equivalent)
- Three letters of recommendation from academic and professional sources concerning the candidate\xc2\x92s potential to succeed in graduate school. At least one letter must be from a certified athletic trainer.
- It is recommended but not required to obtain a minimum of 25-50 contact hours with a certified athletic trainer.
- Official transcripts from each institution attended.
- An essay stating why you want to be an athletic trainer, career goals, and the attributes you possess that will make you successful in life and in athletic training.
- Completed application form and submission of application fee
- Admission into the Athletic Training Program is a competitive process. MSUB\xc2\x92s ATP will accept applications after the official application deadline; however that student will be at a disadvantage. A student may be considered for the program after the application deadline if a position exists. The ATP\xc2\x92s maximum number of students is 10 per cohort.
- Please see ATP website or graduate catalog for prerequisite courses. Students who do not have a prerequisite course(s) may be admitted provisionally but must take the course(s) within one year of admission.
