Study and Career opportunities The Bachelor en Sciences de l’Éducation prepares students for a teaching career in all 4 cycles in Luxembourg’s preschool and primary schools, preparatory classes in the general secondary education system and classes for children with special and specific needs. Students can also continue their studies at the University of Luxembourg with a Master’s degree in Social Sciences and Educational Sciences or in Psychology: Evaluation and Assessment. More info Download Objectives The Bachelor of Education aims to educate reflective practitioners. Students learn to foster knowledge, skills, and attitude development in the classroom by taking into account children’s individual and cultural resources. Students are encouraged to develop their own critical thinking and teaching style based on the theoretical foundations acquired in class and to create their own learning path through a variety of individual and group projects in the school and out-of-school context. Students will complete a scientifically based dissertation analysing a pedagogical issue related to school practices. Learning outcomes The competences that students develop during their studies are set out in the teacher profession’s vision statement. The vision statement is based on the expectations of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth and international professional standards and serves as a reference framework for the internal organisation of the study programme. Programme The Bachelor en Sciences de l’Éducation is a 4-year programme (8 full semesters, including 1 mandatory semester at a university abroad). To obtain the degree of Bachelor en Sciences de l’Éducation, students must complete at least 240 credits. Classes are taught in French, German, Luxembourgish and English. Admission Requirements
Admissions To apply for a programme at the University of Luxembourg, candidates must comply with the general eligibility criteria for the chosen programme type and be selected by the study programme based on the quality of their application. Format: Full time Specific information for this programme Requirements Luxembourgish “Diplôme de fin d’études, secondaires classiques, générales ou techniques” or an equivalent diploma recognised by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. French, German, Luxembourgish and English. More information on proof of language skills In addition to the documents required for the enrolment at the University of Luxembourg, students need to complete an online questionnaire about the applicant’s motivation to become a teacherTo be admitted to the programme, applicants need to pass the entry exam, which takes place every year at the beginning of July. Selection procedure & criteria To be admitted to the Bachelor en Sciences de l’Éducation, applicants must pass a written entry exam consisting of 7 parts: Mathematical knowledge Scientific knowledge Reading comprehension and language proficiency test in French Reading comprehension and language proficiency test in German Reading comprehension in Luxembourgish Reading comprehension in English The last part of the exam collects general background information about the applicant. Exam evaluation does not take into account the last part. The collected information is used to assess the validity and reliability of the exam.
