Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
To begin the admission coursework and apply, you need to:
- Have a regionally accredited US bachelor\xc2\x92s degree or its foreign equivalent in an area of physical, life, or computer science.
- If you\xc2\x92re coming from a physical or computer science background, first complete Introduction to Molecular and Cellular Biology, Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and Principles and Techniques of Molecular Biology, or their equivalents, before registering for the proseminar.
- Demonstrate at least one year of postbaccalaureate scientific research experience.
If you have met this criteria, start with the admission courses:
1. Proseminar: Research Methods and Scholarly Writing in Biotechnology- To register for this course, you must pass our critical reading and writing skills test or earn a B or higher in the relevant expository writing course.
- If you\xc2\x92re coming from a physical or computer science background, first complete Introduction to Molecular and Cellular Biology, Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and Principles and Techniques of Molecular Biology, or their equivalents before registering for the proseminar, which assumes an understanding of biology.
- You need to earn the minimum grade of B in a maximum of two registration attempts. The proseminar cannot be more than two years old at the time of application.
2. Two life sciences courses
You need to have an undergraduate degree to begin taking degree-applicable courses. The admission courses must be 4-credit, graduate-level courses. You complete all admissions courses with a grade of B or higher, without letting your overall Harvard cumulative GPA dip below 3.0.
