Economics and Development

Applicants should have a final undergraduate grade with pass proceed (i.e. permit\xc2\xa0to proceed to graduate studies). Applicants who graduated in Italy should have a final\xc2\xa0grade of at least 99/110 (for foreign students: if the pass proceed is not indicated it\xc2\xa0will be calculated). Students who do not fulfil this requirement but are motivated are\xc2\xa0welcome to apply but may be asked to sit an interview (admission decisions are taken\xc2\xa0by the Admission Committee-see below).\xc2\xa0A reference letter from\xc2\xa0a university professor is strongly recommended.\xc2\xa0

The current academic entry requirements from a BA degree course are:

• Economics\xc2\xa0
• Statistics
• Mathematics
• a very good working\xc2\xa0knowledge (written and oral) of the English Language is essential (at least\xc2\xa0a B2 level of the Common European Framework i.e. equivalent to a Cambridge First\xc2\xa0Certificate).

Students who do not meet these academic requirements (in terms of credits), need to\xc2\xa0pass the required exams before being formally admitted. The \xc2\x93missing\xc2\x94 credits can be\xc2\xa0taken at the University of Florence or in the University of origin of the potential\xc2\xa0candidates.\xc2\xa0\xc2\xa0To satisfy the English language proficiency requirements students need to:

• give evidence that their undergraduate degree course was taught entirely in\xc2\xa0English
• certify their knowledge at a European B2 level (Cambridge First certificate,\xc2\xa0TOEFL, IELTS etc.)
• pass the B2 English language test organised by Dr. Ilona V. Cziraky, who is in charge of the degree course\xc2\x92s language admission\xc2\xa0test. \xc2\xa0
