Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

The admission requirement for the Master\'s degree programme in Culture, Communication and Globalization is a completed relevant bachelor\'s degree. A Bachelor\'s degree is considered relevant if its central subjects provide the student with competences which are equivalent to at least 30 ECTS within one or more subject areas of the CCG programme, i.g. international and/or inter-cultural relations, communication relevant to the scope of the CCG programme, consumption and market communication, organisation and management, international relations and the global order, international migration and ethnic relations.
In addition, documented knowledge of the methodologies of the humanities or social sciences is required.

Bachelor\xc2\x92s degrees from AAU which qualify students for admission

A bachelor\'s degree in Language and International Studies from Aalborg University qualifies students for admission to the master\'s degree programme if admission is in immediate continuation of the completed bachelor\'s degree.

Bachelor\xc2\x92s degrees from AAU which may qualify students for admission

The following Bachelor\xc2\x92s degrees acquired from Aalborg University may qualify students for admission to the master\'s degree programme: Danish plus a minor, English plus a minor, German plus a minor, International Business Communication (French, English, Spanish, German), History plus a minor, Humanistic Informatics, Social Sciences plus a minor, Politics and Public Administration and Sociology.

Bachelor\xc2\x92s degrees from other Danish universities

The following Bachelor\xc2\x92s degrees from other Danish universities may qualify students for admission to the master\'s degree programme: Anthropology and Ethnography, English and Organisational Communication and International Business Communication: Modern Languages and Intercultural Communication.

Professional bachelor\xc2\x92s degrees

You may apply for admission to the master\'s degree programme if you have a professional Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree in International Sales and Marketing. However, there are certain requirements that you must meet:

All programme modules of both the Academy Profession (AP) degree and the Professional Bachelor\xc2\x92s (PBA) degree must have relevance with regard to the CCG Master\xc2\x92s programme. Applicants may be admitted in cases where the study board deems that (s)he has completed relevant study modules and has obtained sufficient methodological competences to complete the Master\xc2\x92s programme.
Applicants with the above mentioned professional Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree must in addition to the standard application form submit a description of their previous studies \xc2\x96 including any internships and topics of major assignments or projects \xc2\x96 as well as a one-page motivated application that documents the relevance of previous studies to the CCG programme.
For exchange students

Exchange students applying for the programme must have completed at least 4 semesters of bachelor studies to be considered for enrolment into the programme.

If you do not meet the admission requirements

Applicants who do not meet the above-mentioned requirements may be granted admission if the Study Board deems that the applicant holds the equivalent educational competences. The study board may then invite the applicant for an interview.

The Study Board does not pre-assess applications for admission. This means that academic assessments are carried out only when an application for admission is submitted.

Restricted admission to the master\'s degree programme in culture, communication and globalization

As of 2016, admission will be restricted to the Master\'s degree programme in Culture, Communication and Globalization, and we expect to admit a total of 120 students.
Assessment and prioritisation of the qualified applicants will take place on the basis of the following selection criteria:

  • The number of ECTS credits in addition to the required 30 ECTS credits obtained within relevant subject areas of the qualifying Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree (international and/or inter-cultural relations, communication relevant to the programme\xc2\x92s subjects, consumption and market communication, organisation and management, international relations and the global order, international migration and ethnic relations).
  • The grade point average for ECTS credits obtained within subject areas relevant to the Master\xc2\x92s degree programme in Culture, Communication and Globalization (international and/or inter-cultural relations, communication relevant to the programme\xc2\x92s subjects, consumption and market communication, organisation and management, international relations and the global order, international migration and ethnic relations).

Applicants who already have a Master\'s degree will normally only be admitted to a new Master\'s degree programme with restricted admission if vacant student places are available. In case of exceptional circumstances, you can apply for an exemption. Together with your application for admission, please enclose documentation for the exceptional circumstances in question.
