Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering welcomes both domestic and international applications from well-qualified students. Competitive applicants will have:
- An undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline.
- An undergraduate GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher is preferred. Applicants with a GPA between 3.0/4.0 and 3.5/4.0 can also be considered for admission. (A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 is required by the Graduate School.)
- GRE Verbal Reasoning + Quantitative scores above 1200, and a GRE Analytical Writing score of 3.5 or above.
- Three letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes.
- Two copies of official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
