Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
There are two entry pathways into the Master of Professional Economics Program.
Direct entry will be available for applicants who have:
- 3 year Bachelor\xc2\x92s Degree in a related field such as economics, business, accounting, finance, human resource management, marketing, management; or
- 3 year Bachelor\xc2\x92s Degree not in a related field + 1 year appropriate business experience; or
- At least 7 years of appropriate business experience.
Students entering via the Masters pathway are able to complete 4 courses per trimester, and are able to complete courses in any sequence they wish, as long as it is consistent with assumed knowledge requirements and course requisites. While students are enrolled in the master\xc2\x92s program, they will be able to exit with a Graduate Certificate in Professional Economics once they have completed the four (40 units) specified courses. Applicants with an Honours degree in a related area or equivalent qualification at Level 8 or above will be given recognition of appropriate prior learning prior to enrolling in the MPE degree program.
The alternate pathway is through the Graduate Certificate (40 units) which will be available for applicants who have:
- 3 year Bachelor\xc2\x92s Degree not in a related field; or
- 3 year Diploma in a related field such as economics, business, accounting, finance, human resource management, marketing, management; or
- 3 year Diploma not in a related field + 1 year appropriate business experience; or
- 2 year Diploma in a related field as above + 2 years appropriate business experience; or
- 2 year Diploma not in a related field + 3 years appropriate business experience; or
- At least 5 years appropriate business experience.
Students entering via the graduate certificate pathway will be required to:
- Complete the Graduate Certificate in Professional Economics over a minimum of two trimesters (typically 20 units per trimester); and
- Successfully complete a Business Academic Skills Program (BASP) which is of 6 weeks duration. The BASP will be non-fee based and can be completed concurrently with courses in the Graduate Certificate.
English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
