Program Curriculum

Course Structure

  1. Thesis Option: A student may wish to perform original research and submit a thesis in addition to completing four graduate lecture courses. A minimum of four (4) lecture courses totaling at least 12 credit hours, or other lecture courses approved for graduate credit, must be taken. There is no specific course requirement for this degree.
  2. Non-Thesis Option: A degree without a thesis will be granted to persons who demonstrate competency in graduate level course work by taking a minimum of six (6) lecture courses totaling at least 18 credit hours.

Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

The UB Graduate School requires a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent for admission. Applicants should also demonstrate aptitude in the physical sciences and mathematics, as evidenced by their undergraduate transcripts. The General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores and three letters of recommendation are required for admission. GRE scores in the 50th percentile or higher are desirable. The Chemistry GRE subject test is strongly encouraged but not required.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
