Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
Applications are invited from undergraduates completing their first degree, as well as those with relevant industrial and professional experience.
Applications may be considered from those with degrees in other branches of engineering, natural sciences, earth sciences and other numerate disciplines.
The minimum entry requirement for consideration is a good degree from a UK university at Upper Second Class (2:1) or above, or an overseas equivalent.
Special cases, based on relevant experience, may be made in some circumstances.
If your first degree is from a country other than the UK, you may find the guidelines within our Country Index helpful. Please note that these guidelines indicate the College minimum. Our requirement is usually higher.
The College also has a minimum English language requirement for postgraduate study.
IELTS (Academic)
An overall score of 6.5, with 6 in the Writing and Speaking modules.

Please ensure you quote your CID number in the email (this will be emailed to you within 10 working days of submitting your application)
If you are not resident in the UK you should contact your nearest British Council Office. If you are resident in the UK, please consult the IELTS website for details of where you can take the test.
Imperial College considers IELTS scores to be valid for 2 years. Scores must be valid at the beginning of your studies at Imperial College, should your application be successful.
