Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
- A/AS-levels in General Studies, Critical Thinking, or Global Perspectives \xc2\x96 College policy: Please note that these subjects are not accepted by King\'s as part of our A-level or AS-level requirements. However, we may take account of your grade if you have just fallen short of the conditions of our offer and we are considering whether or not to accept you onto the course.
- A-levels: AAB including Chemistry at grade A, and grade A in at least one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics. If no Maths at A-level then GCSE Maths at grade A, or AS-Maths at grade B is required. In addition, applicants must have GCSE English grade C (or equivalent).
- Access to HE Diploma: Access to Science (or similar) with 45 Level 3 credits: 33 must be from units awarded at Distinction, with the remaining Level 3 credits at Merit. Selectors will be looking for a substantial number of Level 3 credits to be focussed on Chemistry, in addition to at least one of Maths, Biology, or Physics. Additionally, GCSE English grade C required (or equivalent). Applications will be assessed on an individual basis.
- Cambridge Pre-U: Three Pre-U Principal subjects at D3 D3 M2 including D3 in Chemistry, and D3 in at least one of Maths, Physics or Biology. Additionally, GCSE English grade C (or equivalent). Combinations of Pre-U principal subjects and other qualifications (such as A-levels) considered.
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (QCF from 2010): DDM with ten Distinctions and two A levels at grades AA, including grade A in Chemistry, and grade A in one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics. Additionally, GCSE English grade C (or equivalent).
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma (QCF from 2010): DM with four Distinctions and two A levels at grades AA, including grade A in Chemistry, and grade A in one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics. Additionally, GCSE English grade C (or equivalent).
- BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma (QCF from 2010): M and two A levels at grades AA including grade A in Chemistry, and grade A in one of Biology, Mathematics or Physics. Additionally, GCSE English grade C (or equivalent).
- Scottish Highers & Advanced Highers: AAB at Higher in one sitting and AB at Advanced Higher, including grade A in Advanced Higher Chemistry and grade B at Advanced Higher in at least one of Mathematics, Physics or Biology (we do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject). Additionally, GCSE English grade C required (or equivalent).
- International Baccalaureate: Pass the IB Diploma with a total of at least 35 points, with three Higher Level subjects at 665 including 6 HL in Chemistry, and 6 HL in at least one of Maths, Physics or Biology. Additionally, Standard Level English.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
