Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
- The third and fourth years of the course provide the opportunity to follow a number of the optional courses listed above. You will compile a portfolio which will include a group design study and a literature review. On completion of the third year, there is a four-month placement in an industrial or research organisation abroad or in the UK. The research project constitutes an important feature of the fourth year, which also includes advanced courses in ceramics, alloys, nuclear materials, surfaces, and interfaces and nanomaterials.
- The minimum requirement is A*AA overall, to include:
- A in Mathematics
- A in Physics
- A in an additional subject (Chemistry and Biology are the most common).
- The A* can be in any of the three subjects.
- For students studying the International Baccalaureate, we require an overall score of 38 points for all courses at BEng and MEng level. This must include a 6 in both Mathematics and Physics at Higher level.
- For students studying the European Baccalaureate, we require an overall score of 80% with 8.5 in Maths and Physics.
