Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.75 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
A complete application consists of:
- Completed Engineering Graduate Application for Admission;
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary education institutions attended;
- $75 application fee;
- Two letters of recommendation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
Applicants should have earned a bachelor\xc2\x92s degree of Science (B. S.) or a Master of Science (M.S.) in engineering or science and at least one of the following:
- An undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 out of 4.00.
- A GPA of at least 3.00 for the last two semesters of undergraduate study.
- Scores at or above the 75th percentile on the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) in the Quantitative and Analytical areas. We do not require the GRE subject test.
- GPA of at least 3.00 in a minimum of 12 hours of graduate work at other institutions.
Minimum course requirements include:
- 2 years of calculus, through differential equations.
- One year of physics.
- Sufficient background in biology (to be determined by the admissions committee) to serve as pre-requisite for required graduate course in Advanced Cell Biology.
GRE (Graduate Record Examination)
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required for all applicants whose native language is not English. If the applicant received a degree in the United States, this test is waived. The TOEFL is only valid for two years from the date the test was taken.
An official transcript from each university attended is required. All transcripts should be converted to the American 4.0 grading scale, if possible.
Two (2) letters of recommendation are required from qualified individuals to evaluate the applicant\'s academic achievement and potential for graduate studies.
