Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
The following is required for admission to the MSCE program:
Baccalaureate degree: Civil engineering or related discipline
GPA in last 60 hours of undergraduate engineering coursework: 3.0 or better
Pre-program requirements may be specified in case the bachelor\xc2\x92s degree is in a discipline different to which the candidate is applying.
The applicant must also include:
- Application for admission
- Official transcripts of all college coursework
- Three letters of recommendation from professors at previous institutions or mentors at places of employment are highly encouraged.
- Recommendation letters must come directly from the reference and can be sent to the department: Civil Engineering Graduate Program, 352 Flarsheim Hall, 5100 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO 64110.
- Official results of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
- A cumulative score of at least 302 (verbal + quantitative) and a minimum of 158 on the quantitative portion of the examination is required.
- GRE requirements may be waived by applicants with a baccalaureate from an ABET-accredited program who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. A copy of the FE pass letter, EIT license, or PE license should be sent to the department: Civil Engineering Graduate Program, 352 Flarsheim Hall, 5100 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO 64110.
- International Students \xc2\x96 TOEFL scores are required for international students without prior U.S. degrees. The minimum required score is 80.
- TOEFL requirements may be waived for applicants with a baccalaureate degree from an ABET accredited program in the United States.
- Additional requirements may be needed for international applicants.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6 or equivalent.
