Program Curriculum

Course Structure

  1. the completion of 32 credits (CLA courses are generally 3 credits; GKA and LAT are generally 4 credits)
  2. 8 credits of course work in classes designated above the 7000 level
  3. a final written and oral examination
  4. at least 20 credits in Latin or Greek
  5. at least 3 credits in CLA above the 5000 level
  6. CLA 5300
  7. 6 credits of approved electives above the 5000 level
  8. 24 credits of Latin plus a 8 credit thesis OR
  9. 28 credits of Latin (including 4 credits of cognates, if desired) plus a 4 credit essay OR
  10. 32 credits of Latin (including 4 credits of cognates, if desired)
  11. 12 credits of Latin and 12 credits of Greek, an 8 credit thesis or a 4 credit essay, and additional elective credits in GKA, LAT, or CLA as necessary to add to 32 credits OR
  12. 16 credits of one language and 12 credits of the second plus 4 elective credits from CLA, GKA, or LAT

  2. Three letters of recommendation from professors who know you and your work well

  3. A personal statement detailing your interest and experience in Classics.

  4. A writing sample (a recent term paper will suffice)
