Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Applicants for the master\'s degree program must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited institution with a bachelor\xc2\x92s degree.
  • Possess an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 overall or in the last 60 hours of the bachelor\xc2\x92s program.
  • Take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)*, achieving a combined verbal and quantitative score of at least 286 and an analytical writing score of at least 4.0 (or a combined score of at least 850 and an analytical writing score of at least 4.0 under the scoring system in place October 2002-October 2011 or a combined score of 1250 and an analytical writing score of at least 4.0 under the scoring system in that was in place until October 1, 2002).

If you have completed a master\xc2\x92s degree and wish to waive the GRE requirement and/or transfer any of the courses to the Adult, Juvenile & Community Corrections Leadership graduate program, you must have official transcripts from the degree-granting institution submitted directly to EKU. Follow the instructions given in Step 5 of the application process.
