You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  1. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on the last 60 credits of undergraduate work. Applicants with less than a 3.0 may meet alternate admissions criteria such as professional work experience, personal interview, or academic success in specified courses.
  2. Background coursework in Communication Theory, Research Methods, and Statistics.
  3. Submission of all required admission materials, including:
  • Completed graduate application for admission
  • $30 nonrefundable application fee (unless you have previously applied to Grand Valley)
  • Official copies of transcripts from all institutions of higher education previously attended. Transcripts must be sent from those institutions directly to the GVSU Admissions Office. NOTE: We do not require official transcripts from Grand Valley
  • For those whose native language is NOT English, either the Official TOEFL or IELTS score report. Only original score reports will be accepted.
  • Two letters of recommendation
4. An interview with a representative from the School of Communications.
