Academic Requirements
- Complete the online application.
- Take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test. Please upload these to your application. You will not need to send scores at time of application. If you are accepted, you will be instructed on where to send these.
- If English is not your native language, you must submit a TOEFL. If you are currently working on or have received a bachelors or masters degree in the US, the TOEFL is still required, but you may upload a copy of a previous TOEFL report even if it is more than two years old. Please upload these to your application. You will not need to send scores at time of application. If you are accepted, you will be instructed on where to send these.

- Write a Statement of Purpose \xc2\x97 a concise, one- or two-page essay that describes the primary areas of interest for your research, your related experiences and your objective in pursuing a graduate degree at Carnegie Mellon. We\xc2\x92d also like you to include information why you\xc2\x92re pursing a master\xc2\x92s in computer science, specifically. If your background is unusual, this is also the right place to explain it to us.
