Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

The MSc in Computing is intended for students who already have a Computing or related degree.

Typically, you will have achieved at least an upper second class honours degree (or international equivalent),\xc2\xa0and you will have already studied programming, computer organisation and architecture.

We are willing to consider applications from those who do not fit this profile.\xc2\xa0 We will, for example, consider applicants who do not have an appropriate qualification but have appropriate industrial experience.\xc2\xa0We are willing to consider applications from students with lower qualifications, particularly when the student has high marks in relevant modules and/or appropriate industrial experience.

Selectors for the course are looking for\xc2\xa0two essential criteria\xc2\xa0to be satisfied:

  • Good knowledge of programming in any programming language
  • Basic knowledge of computer organisation and architecture
