Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

The Master of Science in Counselling Psychology is an on-campus thesis-based degree. In addition to the Faculty of Graduate Studies admission requirements, GPE requirements include:(a) A four-year undergraduate degree in Psychology, or a 2-year After-Degree in Psychology , with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (equivalent to a B or 72% in many universities) over the courses taken during the last two years of study.(b) A minimum of three full-course equivalents in applied psychology and/or psychology comprised of:At least one full-course equivalent in statistics and research design (Note: for those who completed a psychology degree at the University of Calgary, PSYC 312 acts as an equivalent),A senior undergraduate psychology or applied psychology course in each of developmental psychology, learning theory, and personality theory, and basic communication skills for counselling (e.g., PSYC 405 Creating a Working Alliance from Athabasca University).(c) A completed application form(d) CV - include the following items as applicable: Educational history, awards and scholarships, presentations and publications employment, research experience, volunteering, and professional development.(e) Statement of Intent (approximately 500 words) indicating your reasons for wanting to pursue graduate work in this program.
