Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Admission Requirements:
  • A four-year bachelor\xc2\x92s degree from a recognized college or university (or be in a combined program).
  • Twenty semester credits of coursework in the behavioral sciences at the undergraduate level, which must include theories of personality, abnormal psychology, developmental psychology, and statistics. Additional courses in psychology and sociology may be applied toward this prerequisite. Courses in other social science disciplines where the focus is on the description or explanation of individual or group behavior may be accepted in fulfillment of this prerequisite at the discretion of the department. Applicants must submit this information on the \xc2\x93Supplemental Application Form and Undergraduate Coursework Summary.\xc2\x94
  • A cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.75 for all undergraduate work or a GPA of at least 3.0 for the junior and senior years of undergraduate work (based on A= 4.00).
  • Satisfactory performance on the Graduate Record Exam General Test or the Miller Analogies Test.
  • Favorable recommendations and the admission committee\xc2\x92s perception of the \xc2\x93best fit\xc2\x94 based on the applicant\xc2\x92s personal statement.
