Course Structure
- Students will have the ability to compose original works of literature (either poetry or fiction) in a pure, clear voice.
- Students will have an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of his/her chosen genre.
- Students will have an appreciation for the craft and theory of other genres.
- Students will have a good grasp of the canonical contexts and history from which new writing emerges.
- Students will have a practical appreciation for the international milieus of all new writing.
- Students will have produced a publishable, complete manuscript of original work.
Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
- A strong manuscript of either poetry or fiction for consideration, of approximately 10-15 pages for poetry and 20-30 pages for fiction.
- A letter of application to the Graduate Committee .\xc2\xa0
- One official set of transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
- Two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to the department.
- Scores for the Verbal portion of the General test of the Graduate Record Examination.
English Proficiency: IELTS 7 or equivalent.
