Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.25 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
For consideration for admission in the master\xc2\x92s program, applicants must fulfill these requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- A 3.25 GPA or higher for the final two years of undergraduate study
- Most Students accepted into our program have GRE scores between 148 and 160 on both the verbal and quantitative tests. Please note that the GRE score is one element of your application and the program considers the entire file in making a determination of admission.
- Three letters of recommendation, preferably from professors familiar with your academic qualifications
- A 300- to 500-word statement of interest that describes your interests in pursuing an advanced degree in criminology (including any specific research interests), as well as your ultimate career goals
- International students whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and score at least 600 on the paper-based test, or at least 250 on the computer-based test, or at least 100 on the new Internet-based ibTOEFL test. Applicants may be asked to confirm their scores by retaking the exam when they arrive at FSU.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
