Academic Requirements

Deakin University offers admission to postgraduate courses through a number of Admission categories.

In all categories of admission, selection is based primarily on academic merit as indicated by an applicant\'s previous academic record. The minimum requirements are successful completion of a three-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent, from an approved university or other educational institution or successful completion of other equivalent qualifications gained by examination, or approved professional or industrial experience. International students must also meet the English language requirements.

Entry requirements - specific

To satisfy the general entrance requirements for admission to the Master of Information Technology (Professional) a student must hold an approved undergraduate degree. Students who hold an undergraduate degree in a non-computing field will be required to take four compulsory core foundation units.

  • Software - Software requirements vary across courses and units of study. Current IT students can access various software via the following resources:
  • MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA), an initiative by Microsoft to provide students an easy and inexpensive way to access the latest Microsoft software, is available via the DreamSpark web store. For any problems with accessing the store, please contact Robert Ruge.
  • Desktop software is also available to students and can be accessed via the IT Help website.
