Academic Review
Undergraduate performanceAn earned undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required to be considered for admission to the MAEcon program. The average undergraduate grade point average (GPA) is approximately 3.3. Graduate coursework and/or (whether degree has been earned or not) will also be taken into consideration. Transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted to the Darla Moore School of Business.
Standardized Test
Applicants must provide a valid (five years old or less) Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) to be considered for admission to the MAEcon program. The GMAT and GRE are composed of verbal, qualitative, and analytical sections.
Transcripts
If your college or university offers PDF delivery of transcripts, please provide them with the contact information for our director of admissions to make sure the transcripts are considered official. Transcripts sent to individuals, other than the director of admissions, may not be considered official.
Letters of Recommendation (2 required)
Letters of recommendation are required for the admission review. It is acceptable to have either professional or academic letters of recommendation. However, it is encouraged that candidates submit professional letters of reference where possible.
Essays
The application for admission requires a statement of purpose (500-word essay) which should outline why you want to earn the MAEcon degree. There is additional space to add a personal essay. This essay should be used to explain the circumstances of any part of your application where you feel the admissions committee might have concerns.
