Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

Applicants who wish to follow our Master in Economics program must qualify for these prerequisites:

Proficiency in English

Applicants whose native tongue is not English or whose Bachelor\'s degree was not taught in English, should provide evidence of proficiency in English as a foreign language at the level of C1 corresponding to the following minimum levels: TOEFL CBT 230 (IBT 88-89, PBT 570) or IELTS 6.5-7 or Certificate of Advanced English (CAE).

Knowledge requirements

The programme itself does not include review courses beyond those of the preparatory units. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that, prior to the course, applicants ensure that they have understood the concepts covered in the following standard teaching material:

Macroeconomics

You should master the material of a good, intermediate macroeconomics book as for instance Mankiw N. Gregory ("Macroeconomics"). On Digitaleconomist.org you will find some more references and a link to an online version of D.A. Ruby\'s "Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory" book.

Microeconomics

You should master the material of a good, intermediate microeconomics book as for instance Varian, H. ("Intermediate Microeconomics: A Modern Approach"). On Digitaleconomist.org you will find some more references and a link to an online version of D.A. Ruby\'s "Intermediate Microeconomic Theory" book.

Econometrics

You should master the material of Stock, James and Watson, Mark (2007) "Introduction to Econometrics"; it has a good online resource library.

Mathematics

Use this online tutorial to repeat the needed mathematical background or to get up to speed on what you will need in our master program.

Two classical mathematics for economists books you could use as well are Simon, C.P and L. Blume ("Mathematics for Economists") and Chiang A.C. ("Fundamental Methods of Mathematical Economics").
