Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

A graduating average of at least 70 per cent from a four-year baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) is required for admission to all programs except for English, History, Mathematics and Statistics and the Master of Public Adminsitration where the required average is 75 per cent.

Applicants with a marginally lower four year average may be accepted if their performance in the last two complete years is significantly higher (75 per cent or more).

Your application package should include a sample of writing and a \xc2\x93letter of intent\xc2\x94, that is, a 1-2 page statement describing the topic you would like to work on in your MA thesis. The \xc2\x93letter of intent\xc2\x94 should suggest an appropriate research supervisor and at least one other committee member from among our faculty. The \xc2\x93letter of intent\xc2\x94 should also indicate what courses you would like to take. These courses may be devised within our department, or taken within other departments or programs at the University of Regina. Courses may also be taken at other universities in western Canada for credit towards a degree at this institution. There is a great deal of flexibility here, the only major exception being that no more than two of the five courses can be taught by any one faculty member. Once we have received your application package from Graduate Studies, we will discuss it and reply to you as quickly as possible, perhaps with some questions and suggestions of our own.

English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
