  1. 12 credits completed in two, 3-week summer residencies on the University of Alberta campus or Regional Site
  2. 12 credits completed in online courses during fall and winter terms
  3. 6 credits of approved options/electives, which can usually be transferred in if already completed, or can be completed at student’s discretion over the course of the program.

Academic Requirements

Please note that in order to be considered for the MES program, you must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • A baccalaureate degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 6.5 (9 point scale) or 3.0 (4 point scale) over the last 60 credits of coursework.

  • Two years of teaching experience.

  • A TOEFL score of 580 (237 computer-based) where applicable.

  • Bachelor in Education degree for international students.
