Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

Both degrees require a bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering with a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Applicants from other degree programs \xc2\x97engineering, physics or mathematics \xc2\x97 must complete pre-requisite courses and have an exceptional academic background to be considered. GRE scores are required for all applicants. In addition, the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering requires the completion of a master\'s thesis, whereas it is optional for the Master of Engineering degree.


Students seeking a master of engineering (ME) or master of science (MS) in electrical engineering are required to complete:

  • One (1) mathematical foundation course,
  • Two (2) core courses in their majors/programs,
  • Three (3) concentration courses in a chosen concentration,
  • Two (2) skill courses
    • A student in an MS program is required to take two (2) analytical skill courses,
    • A student in an ME program is required to take two (2) software/hardware skill courses,
  • Two (2) additional courses
    • Electives (2 courses), or
    • Project (3 credits) plus 1 elective course, or
    • Thesis (6 credits)
    • (Optional) Graduate Co-op Program (Internship).

    Typically, three or four semesters are required to complete a degree (a minimum of 10 courses or 30 credits).
