Entry requirements

Bachelor degree equivalent to UK Second Class Honours Lower Division in a relevant subject

In order to be considered for entry to the course applicants will be required to have the following qualifications:

  • A degree equivalent to UK Second Class Honours Lower Division in an engineering subject. Students will be interviewed to ensure that their qualification is appropriate for this programme of study.
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. CEng) along with several years of relevant industrial experience (should include analytical work). The relevant industrial experience is to be assessed by the Course Director.
  • Overseas applicants are required to have a minimum English language IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any of the components.

ATAS certificate

The British Government\xc2\x92s Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) is designed to check and approve students who will undertake studies and research in certain subjects.

The requirement for an ATAS certificate applies to students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland that have limited leave to enter or remain in the UK (e.g. Tier 4 student visa, refugee status, EEA visa, etc.), you will need to apply for an ATAS certificate.

Once you have been made an unconditional offer you may start the process of applying for ATAS clearance.

When you come to the University to register onto your course, you will need to present the ATAS certificate. Please note that you will not be able to fully enrol onto the course if you fail to present the ATAS certificate.
