You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

The Admission Committee consists of Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences faculty who make all admission decisions. They are looking for a diverse class of high-achieving individuals interested in advancing their careers in technical management.

The Admission Committee is looking for:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in engineering or science discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of technical work experienceafter having received a technical undergraduate degree.
  • 3.0 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale in undergraduate work.
  • Original Transcripts. Your transcripts must come directly from you university or college. The transcript should not come directly from the student unless they are in original envelopes sealed with university stamp. Your transcripts should be sent to: MEM, Northwestern University, 2145 Sheridan Rd., Evanston, IL 60208.
  • Application Fee. $50 application fee payable in US funds. This may be paid by credit card in the application system.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation. We require three letters of recommendation that attest to the candidate\'s work performance and management potential. At least two should be business related and one must be a current supervisor. If an email address is supplied, we will send an email to thank them and outline our request. These letters will remain confidential.
  • A Personal Statement ispart of the on-line application. It should be no longer than 300 words and should outline why you feel the MEM program is the right program for you. It can be written separately and pasted into the on-line application.
  • Calculus Based Statistics Course. A Calculus based Statistics course is a prerequisite for some of the MEM course work. It is not required before applying, but must be taken sometime in the first year.
  • English Language Proficiency. The case-based instruction used in many MEM courses necessitates an excellent command of English. We require a TOEFL score of 250 (600 paper based or 100 internet based) for international applicants. For the IELTS, you must receive a score of 7.0 or higher. These scores are also required of all applicants whose undergraduate training, in whole or in part, was taken at an institution in a country where English is not the native language. This includes bilingual or multilingual institutions in bilingual or multilingual countries. United States citizenship or permanent residency status is not an automatic waiver of this requirement.
  • GMAT or GRE scores are desirable, but not required.

English Proficiency: IELTS 7.5 or equivalent.
