Program Curriculum
Curriculum for the M.S. in engineering technology
You can complete your degree through one of two study options:
Plan B
- Minimum of 30 graduate-level credits (5000 and above)
- Includes a 4–6 credit master’s project (ET 7999)
Plan C
- Minimum of 30 graduate-level credits (5000 and above) in coursework only
Requirements
- All MSET students must complete ET 7430 with a minimum grade of B . A grade of F is not acceptable in any course.
- At least 18 credits must be completed in Division of Engineering Technology courses.
- Up to 8 transfer credits may be accepted from another accredited institution (with approval).
- You may also take graduate-level courses from other departments in the College of Engineering, subject to permission and prerequisites.
- Up to 8 credits completed at Wayne State as a non-matriculated graduate student may be transferred toward the degree.
- Most students complete the program in approximately three semesters .

Admission to the MSET program is contingent upon admission to the Wayne State University Graduate School .
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or a related discipline from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (B average) in undergraduate or upper-division coursework
- Unofficial transcripts are accepted for the application process (official transcripts are required upon admission)
- International applicants are required to submit a WES evaluation and a qualifying TOEFL or IELTS score to demonstrate English Language Proficiency
Conditional admission
Applicants with a GPA between 2.2 and 2.9 may be admitted on a conditional basis . To transition to regular status, you must successfully complete two graduate-level courses with a grade of B or better .
If prerequisite undergraduate courses are required, they must be completed in addition to graduate coursework.
