Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Admission Requirements:

Individuals wishing to enroll in the graduate ESL program must meet the following requirements:

  • Have earned a Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university in any area of study (students may enter the graduate ESL program from many different degree programs and a multitude of backgrounds).
  • Possess a 3.0 GPA overall or on the most recent 48 credits.
  • Have scored a minimum TOEFL score of 79 or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 for international students.
  • No GRE is required for this program.

To apply for both the M.S.Ed. and/or ESL Specialist Certificate Program:

  • Complete the online application
  • Submit official transcripts from undergraduate and/or graduate course work
  • Submit a 1,000-word statement of purpose describing your academic and professional goals
  • Submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores for international students
  • All international students are asked to visit International Admissions for further information
