Program Overview
The bachelor's degree program in Environment and Georesources Management at KIT is an interdisciplinary program that combines geosciences, engineering, business administration and law. The program provides you with a broad spectrum of knowledge and skills that will prepare you for a career in various fields such as public authorities, industry, law, politics and consulting. The focus of the bachelor's degree program is on imparting basic knowledge in the fields of environmental and georesource management and on developing interdisciplinary methodological skills. You will acquire the ability to analytically solve problems relating to climate and environmental change, the circular economy and securing raw materials. Following the foundation part of your studies, you will have the opportunity to choose specialization modules from various subject areas such as geodesy and informatics, energy management, industrial production and regional planning in order to pursue your personal interests even further.

Program Curriculum
During your studies, you have various subjects, which consist of one or more modules. A module deals with a specific topic and consists of one or more courses. The degree program mainly comprises compulsory subjects:
• Mathematical Foundations (12 CP): in this subject, you will learn the basics of higher mathematics, which you will need in your studies.
• Chemical-Physical Foundations (25 CP): in the modules of this subject, you will learn more about general and inorganic chemistry, both theoretically and in practical courses. The basics of physics are covered in the Experimental Physics module, in which the physical laws of nature can be experienced in numerous experiments.
• Geology (60 CP): in terms of scope and content, this subject forms the core of the degree program. Here you will learn about the fundamental aspects of geology. You will immerse yourself in the dynamics of the earth, examine minerals and learn about their chemical composition. During excursions, you will collect geological data using suitable field methods and create geological maps afterwards. And of course you will also learn about key aspects of georesources, your actual research subject in this degree program.
• Fundamentals of Economics (9 CP): you will acquire basic knowledge of finance, including the functioning of financial markets, aspects of accounting, logistics, market research and the systematic presentation of a modern production economy.
• Fundamentals of Law (10 CP): in addition to legal and constitutional fundamentals, you will study core aspects of constitutional law, business law and administrative law. You will also deal with questions of environmental law, e.g. site selection law for a final repository, international environmental law, environmental planning law, etc.
• Geoinformation Systems (9 CP): in this subject, you will deal with a wide range of spatial data. This includes data processing in geoinformation systems, factual data management, data modeling and databases. Statistics are also included.
• Climate and Ecozones (7 CP): you will learn the basics of climatology, e.g. processes and patterns in the atmosphere, their interaction with ecosystems, the importance of spatial and temporal scales. You will also learn about the relationship between climate and ecosystems, which, in addition to physical-geographical aspects and land use, shape the formation of specific landscape zones on our planet.

Admission Requirements
For Germans and those with German equivalent status, an additional necessary requirement for enrollment is proof of participation in a study orientation test (e.g. www.was-studiere-ich.de) or a study orientation consultation in accordance with §7 of the "Landeshochschulgesetz" (State Higher Education Act), e.g. by the Student Advisory Service (ZSB) of KIT. Non-EU/EEA nationals do not have to provide this proof.
