Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Admissions Requirements:

  1. Minimum entering GPA of 3.0 and a B.S. degree from an accredited institution. Provisional admission is possible for Master\xc2\x92s degree applicants with a GPA of 2.6 if evidence of strong academic and professional ability is presented.
  2. Three letters of recommendation, preferably from faculty with whom the candidate has worked.
  3. Minimum GRE: Verbal \xc2\x96 150 Quantitative \xc2\x96 155 Analytical \xc2\x96 550 or Analytical Writing 4.5

International Students must present documentary evidence of ability to meet all expenses for the first year of study and an acceptable plan for financing the remainder of the program. A minimum TOEFL score of either 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based) or 79 (internet based) is required.

Students with non-engineering degrees (biology, earth sciences, etc.) may be admitted into the program, but will be required to take undergraduate engineering courses, which cannot be counted towards graduate degree requirements.

The student\xc2\x92s advisory committee will determine appropriate undergraduate courses required (see list below) to ensure proficiency in engineering fundamentals and design. The student must meet grade point requirements set forth by the Graduate School and must also complete remedial coursework with a minimum GPA of 3.0
