Admission Requirements

  • An above-average Bachelor\xc2\xb4s degree from a recognized university with a standard duration of study of three years in economics (esp. mathematical finance), mathematics or in the natural sciences.
  • Knowledge of analysis, linear algebra, stochastics or numerics (at least 30 ECTS credits).
  • Knowledge of statistics, econometrics or economics (at least 20 ECTS credits).
  • Evidence of sufficient proficiency in English, provided by one of the following language tests:
    • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: minimum Grade C.
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): at least Band 6.
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): at least 80 points (internet-based), 213 points (computer-based) or 550 points (paper-based). Our Institutional Code is 8971 and our Department Code is 84
    • Alternatively: proof of one semester of study in English.
  • For applicants who have obtained their Bachelor\xc2\xb4s degree outside Germany: the results of the GRE test (Graduate Record Examinations). Our Institutional Code is 8971 and our Department Code is 1801
  • For applicants without the German secondary school leaving certificate ("Abitur"): proof of German knowledge via one of the following language tests:
    • "Deutsche Sprachpr\xc3\xbcfung f\xc3\xbcr den Hochschulzugang" (DSH): at least "Stufe 1"
    • "Test f\xc3\xbcr Deutsch als Fremdsprache" (TestDAF): at least "Stufe 3" in all 4 areas.
