Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

All students applying to the Professional Doctorate programme will be interviewed by the programme admissions panel. During interview the level of work commitment and students\xc2\x92 aspirations will be discussed; evidence of managerial support for the student will also be required. Online interviews will be available for overseas students.

Applicants will normally be expected to have a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent plus five years relevant experience. If English is not your first language we require an IELTS score of 6.5 with no element less than 6, or a recognised qualification taught in English awarded within the last two years.

International students will require a Student Visitor Visa to attend the block teaching sessions. Please contact International Student Support Servicesfor further information on how to apply for this visa.

Application Process

To apply to the Professional Doctorate Programme please complete the GCU research application form available from our Postgraduate Admissions Service indicating your chosen pathway in section 3 and including a summary of your proposed research area in section 4. The application form should be returned along with copies of academic qualifications, two references, a letter of support from your current employer and any other relevant documentation toresearchapplications@gcu.ac.uk Applicants shortlisted will be contacted for interview.

Please note that the programme commences in January of each year. The deadline for applications to the Professional Doctorate programme is 30th November for entry the following January.
