Program Curriculum
Course Structure
- Applied Econometrics, where you learn how to carry out empirical studies.
- Natural Resource Economics, where you learn optimum use of limited natural resources such as oil compared with renewable natural resources such as forests, which can be replanted.
- Incentives and Regulation, where you learn about economic regulation of environmental problems.
- Economic Valuation Methods and Cost Benefit Analysis, where you learn methodologies for evaluating the benefits and costs of environmental initiatives.
- Applied Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, where you will work on a practical project based on the knowledge and competences gained in the previous courses, either in groups or individually. Examples of topics from previous years\x92 project assignments are: Economic valuation of ecosystem services, International environmental agreements in relation to contract theory, Pollution mitigation by means of organic farming, Externalities from windmills.
- Cost effectiveness analysis of the European Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS).
- Nitrogen contracts \x96 an economic assessment of an environmental policy instrument.

- Economic assessment of ecosystem services in a Tropical Rainforest.

Admission Requirements
If you have completed a Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree or are enrolled in the final semester of a Bachelor\xc2\x92s programme you are eligible to apply for the Master\xc2\x92s programme in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.
Regardless of what university you are enrolled at, you can - if you meet the language requirements - apply on the basis of a Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree that grants direct access or another relevant Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree.
If you hold one of the degrees listed below, you are considered to meet all admission requirements and have direct access to apply to the Master\xc2\x92s programme in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.
- BSc in Natural Resources with the specialisation in Environmental Economics from the University of Copenhagen (reserved access*)
- BSc in Agricultural Economics from a Danish or Nordic university.
- BSc in Economics from a Danish university or Nordic university.
* If your Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree grants reserved access, you are guaranteed a place on the Master\xc2\x92s programme if you apply before the application deadline during the first application period after you complete your Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree.

If you have a Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree other than those listed above, you must submit additional documentation along with your application so the University can evaluate whether or not you meet the admission requirements.Learn about when and how to apply.
Applicants with a Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree in Natural Resources with another specialisation or another Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree in a natural science area from the Faculty of Science at The University of Copenhagen mey also be admitted if their programme includes:

Other applicants with a Bachelor\xc2\x92s degree in a related field from the University of Copenhagen and other Danish universities or international universities may be admitted if their programme includes courses in:
- Microeconomics (min. 22.5 ECTS credits)
- Statistics (min. 7.5 ECTS credits)
- Econometrics (min. 7.5 ECTS credits)
- Mathematics (min 7.5 ECTS credits)
In addition, you may be admitted, if you after an individual assessment,
are deemed to possess educational/academic qualifications equivalent to the
requirements listed above.
