Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
- Generally a B.Sc., M.D., or D.V.M. degree is required, with a minimum CGPA of 3.2/4.0. Applications will be accepted from candidates sponsored by a research supervisor willing to provide laboratory space and direction for their research work.

- Application fee: $102.60 for each form you submit (you may indicate two programs on each form), payable by credit card when you submit the form.
- Transcripts: your complete record of study from each university-level institution (including McGill) you have attended to date.
- Two Reference Letters: Candidates are encouraged to request recommendations from academic or other professional employers who can evaluate their potential for graduate study and/or speak knowledgeably about their accomplishments.
- Confirmation of Supervisor: A letter of intent, provided on letterhead from the student\'s research director must be included, stating that the supervisor is willing to accept you as a student and will provide space, equipment and possibly financial support. If you have a co-supervisor, this person will have to submit a confirmation letter as well.
- Research project proposal: A 1-2 page description of your proposed thesis research project (prepared by the student and/or the prospective research director) must be included.
- Curriculum Vitae: In English, providing an overview of your experience and other qualifications, including employment, academic credentials, publications, contributions, and significant achievements.
- Memorandum of Agreement: A signed copy of the memorandum of agreement (PDF) between the student and the supervisor must be completed and signed and uploaded with their application. TOEFL/IELTS, GRE results (if applicable): when registering for the test please ensure that you request that results be sent directly to McGill University.
- Tuition Assistance: New students admitted to the Experimental Surgery graduate program may be considered for an entrance fellowship.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
