Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
You need the following GPA score:
Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
Admission to the Graduate School requires completion of a Bachelors or other advanced degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students seeking admission must submit an application, transcripts, and $30 application fee to the NMSU office of Graduate Student Services.
The department requires evidence of adequate preparation for graduate coursework in finance as a condition for admission.
The Finance Department requirement may be met in either of two ways:
- Applicants must have earned a B or better in the following courses, or their equivalents, within the 7 years prior to acceptance into the program: FIN341 \xc2\x96 Financial Analysis and Markets, MATH 142G \xc2\x96 Calculus for the Biological and Management Sciences I, and STAT 251G (or A ST 251G) \xc2\x96 Statistics for Business and Behavioral Sciences, OR
- Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 may be admitted with 2 or more years of relevant, full-time, post-degree, professional work experience in the finance industry.
English Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
