Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
- Strong undergraduate mathematics background, including Calculus (NCSU MA 141/241/242), Differential Equations (MA 341 and 401), and Linear Algebra (MA 405). Taking a course similar to our Analysis (MA 425/426) would be considered favorably. Reitano\xc2\x92s book, Introduction to Quantitative Finance, provides a good review of (nearly) all the academic subjects needed in your background.
- GPA of at least 3.0 (out of 4.0) in the sciences required; overall GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred.
- GRE General Test is required. GRE Math Subject Test scores are recommended. Scores must be less than 5 years old.

- Three recommendation letters must be part of a completed application.
- A Personal Statement can be used to explain your motivation, and to provide some guidance understanding your application materials.
