Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

1. Undergraduate degree:

\n

Business,\ncommerce, economics, mathematics, engineering or actuarial science degrees will\nbe preferred, but other 4-year undergraduate degrees will be considered if\nthere is evidence of strong quantitative skills.

\n

Minimum\nB average required across courses in the final year but most students admitted\nwill have a considerably higher GPA. If you studied outside of Canada, please visit our website and consult the School of Graduate Studies\' site for GPA conversion.

2. Quantitative proficiency:

\n

Evidence\nof a high level of proficiency (a GPA of at least 3.0) in quantitative subjects\nsuch as calculus, linear algebra, statistics and econometrics is required. In\ncases where evidence of quantitative ability is not obvious, applicants may be\nasked to supply a GMAT/GRE score or other supplementary evidence of\nquantitative ability. Knowledge of VBA is strongly preferred.

3. Prerequisite courses:

\n

Before\nthe program begins in September, applicants must have completed prerequisite\ncourses in the following areas:

·        \nFinancial Accounting

\n

·        \nInvestments

\n

·        \nFutures and Options

\n

4. English language proficiency:

Applicants\nmust demonstrate the ability to communicate in English in one of the following\nways:

a) An\nundergraduate or graduate degree from a university at which the language of\ninstruction and examination was English

\n

b)\nSatisfactory performance on a standardized English Language Test. Minimum TOEFL\nscore of 100 is required. IELTS may be considered in special circumstances and\na minimum score of 7.0 will be required.

\n

If\nyou have studied at an English-language university outside of Canada, official\nconfirmation of English as the language of instruction and examination from\nyour university will be required.
